Witnessing the birth of three children via cesarean section in Becki-Jo’s 31st week of pregnancy was a surreal experience. It was an event that caught them off guard, as there were no previous instances of triplets in their family lineage.
The triplets, named Rohan, Roman, and Rocco, each weighed around three pounds and five ounces at birth. They spent the initial six weeks of their lives in critical care, and emerged robust, ready to take on the world. These three boys are undeniably charming!
Becki-Jo and her husband expressed their gratitude for their sons’ progress. After only six weeks, the boys were allowed to return home, thanks to their swift weight gain. Their striking resemblance drew comments from everyone who came to visit.
A DNA test confirmed the boys’ identical genetic makeup – a rarity even amongst triplets.
The Uniqueness of Identical Triplets
Identical triplets occur when one egg splits into two and one of these then splits again during the first ten days of pregnancy. This is an extremely rare phenomenon. In the United States, only four sets of identical triplets were born in 2021, underscoring the uniqueness of this event.
Even though the three boys look strikingly similar, Becki-Jo can easily tell them apart. However, she admits that the comparisons are easier to make when they are asleep.
The Delightful Challenges and Bonds
Each of the boys has a black birthmark between their brows and a distinct personality. Their care involves a hefty weekly consumption of about 130 diapers and five packages of wipes – a reality that keeps their parents on their toes.
Indiana, their elder sister, takes immense pride in her three younger brothers and showers them with love. She holds no envy, despite acknowledging the attention the boys receive due to their unique circumstances.
