Everybody loved Elvis Presley in this movie

Love Me Tender (1956) marked Elvis Presley’s film debut — and it’s now available to watch for free on YouTube. Originally titled The Reno Brothers, the Civil War-era drama was renamed to promote Elvis’s hit song, which became an instant chart-topper. Elvis played Clint Reno, inspired by a real historical figure. Though third-billed, he took acting seriously and impressed producers with his dedication. The role, initially turned down by other actors, was expanded to showcase his charisma — and yes, his music.

Fans were so excited that they screamed over his lines at the premiere. Elvis didn’t plan to sing in the film, but producers quickly added musical scenes. “Love Me Tender,” based on the 1800s tune “Aura Lee,” became a gold record before release and stayed part of his live shows for 20 years.
