When my husband came home with another woman and announced he wanted her as his second wife, I thought it was a joke. But when I realized he was serious, I agreed on one condition—something he never saw coming.
It all started months ago when Jack, my husband of eight years, began acting oddly. We weren’t newlyweds anymore, but I thought our marriage was solid. Jack, who’d always jumped from one obsession to another, started talking about “alternative lifestyles.” At first, I brushed it off as just another phase. But then, he made strange comments, like asking if we could use “extra help” around the house, hinting at something more.
One evening, he came home unusually cheerful with a woman named Claire. He introduced her, then casually stated, “Claire is going to be my second wife.” I laughed, thinking it was a joke, but he was dead serious. He explained that having her help around the house would be practical, rather than having a mistress.
I didn’t know how to react at first, but then a wicked idea came to me. “Sure, you can have a second wife,” I said, “but I want a second husband.” Jack was stunned, insisting it wasn’t how it worked. I countered, “Why not? If a man can have two wives, why can’t a woman have two husbands?” Jack was speechless.
By morning, Jack regretted his idea. I, however, wasn’t ready to forget. I set up a dating profile for my second husband, and soon dozens of men were interested. The next day, I packed my bags and left, filing for divorce shortly after. Jack’s calls went unanswered, and even Claire stopped taking his calls. He should’ve thought twice before suggesting his “practical” solution.
