A troubling investigation is unfolding in Arizona following the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie. Authorities now believe Nancy may have been abducted from her Tucson-area home while she slept—an alarming scenario that has escalated the case from a missing-person search to a potential criminal investigation.

According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Nancy was reported missing Sunday afternoon after she failed to attend church, something family members said was highly unusual. Sheriff Chris Nanos told investigators believe she was taken overnight. “I can’t recall a case where an 84-year-old woman vanished from her bed in the middle of the night,” he said.

Family members, including Savannah’s sister Annie, reportedly had dinner with Nancy on Saturday evening and dropped her off at home between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m. There were no signs of distress. By Sunday morning, she was gone.

Authorities say Nancy left behind her phone, wallet, and car, strengthening the belief she did not leave voluntarily. DNA evidence recovered from the home has been sent to a lab for analysis. While mentally sharp, Nancy has limited mobility and relies on daily, life-sustaining medication—making time critical.

Search efforts have expanded to include drones, K-9 units, Border Patrol agents, and homicide detectives. Savannah Guthrie shared a heartfelt message on social media asking for prayers and public support, while residents in the Catalina Foothills area are urged to review security footage.
