American Beauty Queen Dies, Leaving Loved Ones in Mourning

California beauty queen Andrea Andrade has died after a nine-year battle with colon cancer. Her husband, Chris Wilson, announced her passing with a brief but powerful message: “My eternal love. I know this isn’t goodbye.”Andrea was diagnosed in 2017 with stage III colon cancer and given six months to two years to live. She gave doctors nine. During those years, she chose purpose over fear, filling her life with love, service, and determination.Andrea and Chris were together for eight years, married for two.

While she held multiple titles—including Miss West Coast, Miss Fresno County, and Miss California Congeniality—those closest to her say her character mattered far more than any crown. She was known for her warmth, encouragement, and ability to lift others even while facing her own illness. During treatment, Andrea met a young boy wearing a superhero costume to chemotherapy.

That moment inspired the couple to create Not All Heroes Wear Capes, a program that brought costumed visits and joy to hospitalized children. Though emotionally difficult, Andrea said seeing the children smile made it worthwhile. At one point, Andrea went into remission, but the cancer later returned and progressed to stage IV. Her health declined rapidly in October, and she spent her final weeks surrounded by family.

Andrea was just 26 when symptoms first appeared—pain initially mistaken for endometriosis. Her story highlights the rising risk of colorectal cancer in younger adults. She is survived by her husband, parents, and brothers. Though her fight has ended, Andrea Andrade’s legacy of resilience, compassion, and grace continues to inspire all who knew her.
