Video Shows DHS Officer Kicking Candles at Renee Good Memorial — Public Reacts

A Department of Homeland Security officer has sparked outrage after being filmed kicking over a candle at a memorial honoring Renee Nicole Good, a Minneapolis mother of three who died during an encounter with an ICE agent. The video, first shared on Bluesky and later circulated on X, shows the officer wearing a “Police DHS” patch walking through a small memorial where Good’s name was written in chalk. In the clip, the officer knocks over a candle before confronting a nearby protester.

When asked what he thought the candle was for, he responds, “I don’t give a f***.” While the exact location of the memorial has not been confirmed, the footage has drawn widespread criticism. The video surfaced just one day after Good’s death, intensifying public anger already surrounding the incident.

Good, 37, was driving her SUV on January 7 after dropping off her six-year-old child at school when she encountered ICE agents. Footage from that encounter shows a masked federal agent firing multiple shots into her vehicle, which continued moving before crashing. Good was pronounced dead at the scene.ICE officials have claimed the agent acted in self-defense, alleging that Good used her vehicle as a weapon.

That account has been strongly disputed by local leaders and witnesses. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey publicly rejected the explanation, calling the shooting an abuse of power. Good’s family described her as compassionate and deeply caring. Protests have since spread across Minneapolis, with the memorial incident further fueling criticism of federal authorities and their response following her death.
