Before she became one of America’s most elegant and enigmatic First Ladies, Melania Trump’s story began in a modest apartment in Sevnica, Slovenia, with views of factory chimneys and a riverbank. Born Melanija Knavs, she grew up with her older sister Ines in a family that valued discipline, creativity, and quiet ambition.

A model student, she excelled in geography and art, crafting bracelets and decorating schoolbooks with glamorous magazine cutouts. Classmates recalled her as organized, polite, and poised, uninterested in the rebellious music popular at the time.
