For the first time since her husband’s tragic death, Erika Kirk spoke publicly, honoring Charlie Kirk’s life and legacy. At a press briefing, she thanked first responders, investigators, and public officials for their support following the fatal September 10 shooting. She also expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance for their personal outreach. “Mr. President, my husband loved you, and he knew you loved him too,” Erika said through tears.
Reflecting on her husband’s wishes, Erika vowed to continue his mission through Turning Point USA. “Charlie, I promise I will never let your legacy die. I promise to make Turning Point USA the biggest force this nation has ever seen.” She shared a tender moment with their three-year-old daughter, Gigi, who asked where her father was. “I said, ‘Baby, daddy loves you so much. Don’t worry. He’s on a work trip with Jesus.’”
Erika’s appearance drew national sympathy. Images of Usha Vance, wife of Vice President Vance, holding her hand as they walked together went viral, with many noting Erika’s visible grief.
Kirk’s political and personal bond with Vance was well known, and Vance helped escort his casket aboard Air Force Two. President Trump later described Erika as “absolutely devastated” while promising progress in the investigation.
