Always Keep the Bathroom Light On When Sleeping in a Hotel

Why Leave the Bathroom Light On in a Hotel?

During my first solo hotel stay, I found total darkness disorienting. Over time, I learned that leaving the bathroom light on can actually help.

Benefits:

Navigation: A soft glow helps you move safely at night without turning on harsh lights.

Comfort: Offers calm in unfamiliar surroundings, especially if you’re alone.

Jet Lag: A dim light may help your body adjust to new time zones.

Family-Friendly: Makes nighttime bathroom trips easier for kids or others.

Emergency-Ready: Light aids in visibility during unexpected situations.

Drawbacks:

Sleep Disruption: Light can interfere with melatonin and deep sleep.

Energy Use: Not the most eco-friendly option.

Bugs: In some places, light may attract insects if the room isn’t well sealed.

Tips:
Use a portable nightlight, crack the bathroom door for softer glow, or drape a towel to dim brightness.

Bottom line: It’s about balancing comfort and sleep
