When a Friday Greeting Took a Funny Turn

One morning, a cheerful woman stepped into an elevator and greeted a suited man with a bright “T-G-I-F!” The man smiled and replied, “S-H-I-T.” She blinked in confusion but brushed it off, assuming he misunderstood. So she tried again, repeating her Friday excitement with even more enthusiasm.

Again, the man calmly responded with the same odd letters: “S-H-I-T.” Perplexed but determined to clarify the mix-up, the woman repeated her greeting a third time, now with a big grin, hoping he’d catch on. Instead, he stuck to his strange reply, unfazed.

Finally, she couldn’t hold back. “T-G-I-F means ‘Thank God, It’s Friday!’” she explained, expecting understanding to dawn on his face. But the man’s playful smile returned with a punchline of his own: “S-H-I-T — Sorry, Honey, It’s Thursday.”

The elevator filled with laughter as the misunderstanding melted away. A simple morning moment became a reminder that humor often lives in miscommunication—and that a shared laugh can brighten any day.
