The Rise and Fall of Lee Grant in 1950s Hollywood

Lee Grant was a rising star in 1950s Hollywood, known for her beauty and talent. Her breakout role in Detective Story (1951) earned her an Oscar nomination and a Cannes Award, positioning her as one of the era’s most promising actresses.

But her career came to a sudden halt after she spoke out at a memorial for actor J. Edward Bromberg, implying the House Un-American Activities Committee contributed to his death. As a result, Grant was blacklisted for 12 years during the height of her career.
