Maria del Carmen Bousada de Lara became the world’s oldest mother when, at 66, she gave birth to twins in 2006. After selling her house to afford IVF treatment, Maria lied about her age, claiming she was 55, and conceived despite societal skepticism and family disapproval. Many criticized her decision, but Maria firmly believed in choosing when to start a family, free from societal pressure.
Sadly, just six months after giving birth, Maria was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and passed away in 2009, only having a few short years with her boys.
