Costa Rican investigators noted the possibility that Miller may have suffered “possible intoxication after apparently ingesting some food,” as shared by NBC News. Juan Pablo Alvarado, a representative of the country’s Judicial Investigative Agency, clarified that the official cause of death has yet to be determined pending the results of an autopsy and toxicology analysis.

Brett, who retired from Major League Baseball in 2021 after spending his entire 14-season career with the Yankees, had devoted much of his post-career life to spending quality time with his wife and two sons in South Carolina.
