Donald Trump Jr. is pushing back hard against a Mediaite report that claimed he is considering a run for president in 2028, calling the story “obviously fake” and ridiculing the journalists who ran with it.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Trump Jr. wrote:
“LOL A lot of fake stories have been written about me over the years, but this might be the most obviously fake one yet. Congrats to @dianafalzone & @Mediaite for embarrassing themselves. You guys got played and now all your friends in the press are mocking you behind your back.”
Trump Jr.’s Strongly Worded Denial
Trump Jr.’s statement to Mediaite was even more blunt. He dismissed the report outright, criticizing the anonymous sources behind the claim and mocking the outlet for believing them.
According to a screenshot shared by political strategist Andrew Surabian, Trump Jr. told Mediaite:
“I accurately predicted that my buddy JD (J.D. Vance) would be an instant power player in national GOP politics, so your theory is that I worked my ass off to help get him the VP nomination because I want to run for president in 2028? Are you f**ing retarded?”*
He continued:
“I’m actually glad you’re printing this bulls** though because at least now the rest of the press corps will see how s***y your ‘sources’ are and how easily you’re played by them. Congrats, moron.”
Mediaite Faces Backlash
The Mediaite report, which cited anonymous sources, claimed that Trump Jr. was laying the groundwork for a 2028 presidential bid. However, Trump Jr. made it clear that he has no such plans and that the story was based on false information.
Andrew Surabian, a former Trump adviser, also mocked the outlet, saying:
“Imagine calling yourself a journalist and getting so obviously played this badly by ‘sources.’ Every reporter in DC I know is sending me the story mocking Mediaite for running it. Total clowns .”
While Trump Jr. has firmly denied any intention to run for president in 2028, his high-profile role in conservative politics continues to fuel speculation about his future ambitions. However, as far as he’s concerned, this rumor was nothing more than media spin gone wrong.
