Tragic Plane Crash Near D.C. Claims Lives of U.S. Figure Skating Community
A devastating plane crash near Washington, D.C., on January 29, 2025, has left the nation in shock. A midair collision between a commercial passenger jet and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan National Airport sent both aircraft into the icy Potomac River. No survivors are expected, with 28 bodies recovered, including 27 from the plane and one from the helicopter.
Among the victims were members of the U.S. figure skating community, including young skaters Jinna Han and Spencer Lane, their parents, and renowned Russian coaches Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov.
