Survivor of Shooting at Madison Abundant Life School: Second-Grader Shares Story

A tragic incident occurred at Madison Abundant Life Christian School on December 16, 2024, resulting in three fatalities, including the 15-year-old shooter, Natalie Rupnow, and six individuals sustained injuries. Amidst the chaos, second-grader Nora Gottschalk, aged 8, displayed remarkable courage by promptly dialing 911, describing the harrowing experience as “really scary” and “super sad.”

Among the victims were a dedicated teacher, a student, and the young shooter who took her own life. The community was profoundly impacted, prompting a mixture of relief and grief among parents. Brit Grange conveyed her sympathy, stating, “My heart goes out to the families.”

This tragic event emphasizes the critical importance of preparedness and unity within the school community as they navigate through collective mourning and seek solace and healing during this challenging time.
