Teen Rally Driver and Co-Driver Killed in New Zealand Crash
A tragic rally sprint crash in Paparoa, New Zealand, claimed the lives of teenage driver Brooklyn Horan and his co-driver, 35-year-old Tyson Jemmett. Their car veered off a gravel road and plunged into a flooded river during the Arcadia Road Rallysprint. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
MotorSport New Zealand confirmed Horan, part of their junior driver program for competitors aged 12-16, was behind the wheel. The organization is investigating the crash, with early findings showing no road safety issues.
Tributes have poured in from the motorsport community. Rally champion Hayden Paddon called Horan “one of the most exciting young rally stars,” while others praised both victims for their passion and kindness.
Jemmett leaves behind his pregnant wife, Lucy. A fundraiser has been launched to support her and their unborn child during this difficult time.
