Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with Jennifer Garner during this difficult time of loss.

Jennifer Garner shared on social media that her father, William John “Billy” Garner, passed away peacefully on Saturday at the age of 85. William, an alumnus of Texas A&M University, earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering and worked for Union Carbide.

Jennifer, along with her sisters Susannah and Melissa, fondly remembered their father, who was married to their mother Pat for nearly 60 years. In a heartfelt tribute, Jennifer wrote, “My dad died in peace on Saturday afternoon. When he left, we were with him and sang ‘Amazing Grace.’ The death of an 85-year-old man who lived a healthy, happy life is not a tragedy, but I know that grief is inevitable.”

She expressed gratitude for her father’s “kind nature and quiet strength,” and thanked the medical staff at Charleston Area Medical Center and City of Hope for their care. Reflecting on his legacy, she said, “My sisters and I will never get tired of talking about how great my dad was.”

Patricia Ann Garner, Jennifer’s mother, grew up on a farm in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Jennifer celebrated her parents’ 59th wedding anniversary on January 1, 2024, expressing appreciation for their love and support, “Happy 59th wedding anniversary to my loving and sweet parents! Thank you, Mom and Dad, for making sure my sisters and I had a safe and happy childhood.”
