Dad Takes Disabled Daughter to Prom, Finds $10K Check for ‘Dad of the Year’ in Mailbox Later

Molly, a 17-year-old with a disability, was heartbroken by the loss of her mother and the prospect of attending prom alone. But when her estranged father, Danny, unexpectedly reappeared at her mother’s funeral, things began to change. Despite her doubts, Molly moved in with him, and Danny, previously known only through child support, made efforts to connect—learning even how to braid her hair.

When no boys invited her to prom, Danny stepped up, taking her himself. He arrived in his truck and proudly wheeled her in, moving everyone in attendance. Touched by his devotion, parents at the event later sent Danny a $10,000 check as a “Dad of the Year” gift. With his savings and the gift, he paid for Molly’s needed surgery. Danny’s love and sacrifices allowed Molly to embrace her future with newfound confidence.
