Florida woman gives birth to rare set of identical twins with Down syndrome!

The birth of twins is a relatively rare occurrence, with approximately 33 out of every 1,000 births resulting in twins. Additionally, identical twins are even rarer, occurring in only three to four out of every 1,000 births.
When 23-year-old Savannah Combs discovered she was pregnant with twins, she was overjoyed. However, she soon learned that her twin daughters would be born with Down syndrome, a condition that caused concern for some individuals who may judge her and her babies based on their condition.

Despite this, Savannah believes her daughters, Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman, are incredibly precious. Savannah shared her pregnancy journey with her daughters on TikTok, where they quickly gained a following. In one of her videos, Savannah shared that she was advised to abort her babies because they would not survive, but she decided to give them a fighting chance.

Savannah’s husband was away at boot camp when she learned that both of her twins had Down syndrome. She was 29 weeks pregnant when she was admitted to the hospital and delivered her daughters. The twins were born on May 12, 2021, two months before their due date, so they had to spend several weeks in the NICU before coming home.

They’re called mono di twins, meaning that they had their own sacs, but they shared the same placenta, meaning that they were going to be identical,” she said. “Mo di twins as it is, it’s like very rare. And then you throw Down syndrome on top of it, it’s like one in 2 million.”

Despite their rare condition, Savannah believes that her daughters are just like any other child. “They have feelings. They have a beating heart. They know how to talk. They know how to do things you do. They will get there,” she said. “Like I said, it may be a step behind but they’re going to do it. I’ve learned these kids are feisty little things and happy little things.”

As each child continues to reach their milestones, Savannah shares their adorable updates on TikTok. Savannah has faced criticism from insensitive individuals on social media who have judged her and her family. However, she responds with grace, stating that her daughters are the most precious and loving people out there, and that God knew what he was doing by giving these babies to the right parents who would love them regardless.

Kennadi Rue and Mckenli Ackerman are beautiful girls, and Savannah believes that they will accomplish anything they set their minds to.

She hopes to teach her daughters that they are just like anyone else and can achieve anything they want if they put their minds to it. This is a heartwarming story that deserves to be shared with others
