Actor Patrick Muldoon, Known for Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place, Dies at 57

Patrick Muldoon, known for his roles in Days of Our Lives and Melrose Place, has passed away at the age of 57. According to reports, he experienced a heart attack at his home in Beverly Hills. His sister, Shana Muldoon-Zappa, shared that the day had begun normally before concern arose when he did not return after stepping away. Emergency services were contacted, but he could not be revived. His passing has led many to reflect on a career defined by versatility and consistency.

Muldoon became a familiar face to audiences through his portrayal of Austin Reed on Days of Our Lives during the early 1990s, later returning to the role years afterward. His performance helped shape a period of daytime television, combining emotional depth with a strong on-screen presence. Reflecting on his return, he once described the experience as both nostalgic and meaningful, noting the connection he maintained with colleagues over the years. His work on the show established him as a recognizable and respected figure in the genre.

He also expanded his range with a different role on Melrose Place, where he portrayed Richard Hart, demonstrating his ability to take on more complex and contrasting characters. On the big screen, he gained additional recognition in Starship Troopers, where he played Zander Barcalow. The film later developed a dedicated following and allowed him to explore a genre he appreciated. Throughout his career, he appeared in a wide range of projects, including Who’s the Boss? and Saved by the Bell, as well as later films such as Vanquish and Marlowe.

Beyond acting, Muldoon contributed behind the scenes as a producer through his company, Storyboard Productions, working on developing new projects. At the time of his passing, he remained active in the industry, with his final film expected to be released later this year. He is survived by his partner, Miriam Rothbart, his parents, and his sister along with her family. His legacy is defined not by a single role, but by a steady and lasting presence across television and film.
