Beloved ’80s Supermodel and Dallas Actress Dies Aged 62

Former model and actress Annabel Schofield has died at the age of 62 after battling brain cancer. The Welsh-born star, who rose to fame during the 1980s modeling boom before transitioning into acting, passed away on February 28 in Los Angeles. Schofield first gained international recognition after beginning her modeling career in London. With her striking look and confident presence, she quickly became one of the most recognizable faces of the decade. She appeared on the covers of major fashion magazines and fronted campaigns for well-known brands including Yves Saint Laurent, Versace, Rimmel, Revlon, and Boots No.7.

One of her most memorable appearances was a Bugle Boy commercial in which she drove a black Ferrari through the desert before delivering the famous line: “Excuse me, are those Bugle Boy jeans you’re wearing?” The ad captured the bold and glamorous style that defined 1980s fashion advertising.

After achieving success in modeling, Schofield moved to the United States to pursue acting. She later became known to television audiences for her role as Laurel Ellis on the long-running drama Dallas, appearing in 12 episodes during the show’s 11th season. She also appeared in films connected to productions such as Doom, The Brothers Grimm, and How Do You Know, and later worked behind the scenes in film production.

In July 2024, Schofield revealed she had been diagnosed with cancer that had spread to her brain. She remained open about her health journey and underwent surgery in early 2026 to remove a tumor. Schofield is survived by her mother and will be remembered for her influence in fashion, television, and film, as well as the courage she showed during her illness.
