Emma stood frozen in the doorway, fury burning in her eyes. Mark had stopped mid-step beside Lily’s bed, shock written across his face. Lily’s gaze darted between them, confusion and fear tightening her small frame. “What are you doing, Emma?” Mark asked calmly, but the tone rang hollow. Emma moved quickly to Lily’s side, pulling her close. “What are you doing?” she snapped. “What’s going on here?”
Lily shrank into her mother’s arms as Mark stepped back, his eyes flicking to the small camera hidden inside a stuffed rabbit. His face fell. “You’ve misunderstood—” “No,” Emma cut in sharply. “I’ve seen enough. You’ve betrayed this family, and I won’t let you hurt my daughter.”
