A small Italian town is mourning the tragic loss of 15-year-old Matilda Ferrari, a promising figure skating talent who was killed Monday morning after being struck by a cement mixer while on her way to school.
The accident occurred in Val Rendena, Trentino, as Ferrari attempted to cross State Road 239 near her home while heading toward a bus stop. Local reports say the truck, owned by the Cunaccia construction company, hit her in a crosswalk. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances, though early accounts suggest the driver may have been proceeding through a green light.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene within minutes, including a helicopter and teams of paramedics, firefighters, and doctors. Despite their efforts, Ferrari suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Her parents arrived shortly afterward to devastating news.
