Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Passed Away At Age 31

German Olympic gold medalist Laura Dahlmeier has died at age 31 after a climbing accident on Laila Peak in Pakistan. Her team confirmed she was struck by a falling rock. Rescue efforts were delayed due to bad weather and reached the site a day later.

Dahlmeier rose to fame in biathlon, winning the overall World Cup in 2017 and securing five golds at the World Championships that year. At the 2018 Winter Olympics, she made history by winning gold in both the sprint and pursuit events, plus a bronze in the 15km.

She retired in 2019 at age 25, later becoming a mountain guide and author while remaining active in outdoor sports and rescue work.
