Passenger Plane Carrying 244 Crashes Shortly After Takeoff in India

The plane involved in the crash was a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, a twin-engine widebody jet. This incident marks the very first crash ever recorded involving this aircraft model, according to the Aviation Safety Network. It is a significant event given the Dreamliner’s reputation for safety and modern design.

On June 12, an Air India flight bound for London crashed just minutes after departing from Ahmedabad in northwestern India. Flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 carrying 244 people—232 passengers and 12 crew members—lost contact shortly after takeoff. Authorities are actively providing medical aid and relief efforts at the crash site.
