I stopped by McDonald’s for a quick meal and overheard a mom talking to her little girl

One evening at McDonald’s, I noticed a mother and her young daughter quietly sharing a single burger. The mom poured tea from a thermos, and I overheard the little girl ask, “Can we eat here, please?” It was her first time at McDonald’s. They had just come from the hospital, and the mother had spent her last few dollars to create a small but special moment. I bought them a Happy Meal and left it on their table. The mother’s grateful eyes and her daughter’s joy stuck with me.

Two weeks later, I saw them again on my morning bus. The mom, Carla, introduced her daughter as Lani. We talked quietly.
