Miss Teen Rodeo Kansas, 19, Tragically Passes Away, Leaving Teammates Heartbroken – Details

Emma, who was 19 years old, tragically passed away at the scene of the accident. The crash happened at 9:44 p.m., and emergency services responded quickly. The other passengers, a 20-year-old woman from Larned, a 19-year-old woman from Newton, a 19-year-old woman from Galva, and an 18-year-old man from Council Grove, along with the driver, were all transported to Citizens Medical Center in Colby for treatment.

Emma, who hailed from Blue Rapids, Kansas, was a sophomore majoring in equine management and production at Colby College. She was a passionate rodeo competitor, excelling in events like goat tying, breakaway roping, and team roping. Emma joined Colby College on a scholarship after attending Valley Heights USD 498.

Her death has left a deep impact on her community, and the Colby College Community Rodeo Team paid tribute to her in a heartfelt post, expressing their sorrow over the loss. They remembered Emma for her uplifting personality and kind heart, saying, “Her light will live on in and around the rodeo arena.” The Miss Rodeo Kansas Pageant also shared their condolences, calling Emma a remarkable individual who embodied the spirit of a rodeo queen and praising her infectious smile and exceptional character.

Emma’s dedication to the rodeo and Western lifestyle was evident from a young age. She was a first-generation cowgirl who competed in the Kansas Wild Horse Youth Challenge for four years, earning grand champion titles in both 2019 and 2021. She was also a participant in the Kansas High School Rodeo Association for two years, showcasing her talent and passion for the sport.

Her untimely death is a tremendous loss to her family, friends, and the rodeo community. Emma will be deeply missed for her talent, spirit, and positive energy that touched the lives of many.
