The world is praying for legendary actress Sophia Loren.
New reports are revealing that the 89-year-old starlet has sustained injuries after taking a spill in her Swiss home. According to People, Loren was in one of the bathrooms of her home on Sunday, September 24 when she fell.
Her team has revealed that Loren sustained several fractures as a result of the fall, including her femur and hip. Loren underwent surgery after being transported to a local hospital.
“A fall at her home in Geneva today caused Ms Loren hip fractures,” the statement shared to one of her social media pages read. “Operated with a positive outcome, she will now have to observe a short period of recovery and follow a road to rehabilitation.”
“Thankfully everything worked out for the best and the Lady will be back with us very soon. The whole team at Sophia Loren Restaurant takes this opportunity to wish her a speedy recovery.”
Loren’s fall comes just four days after the star turned 89.
As The Hollywood Reporter added, Loren has been surrounded by her two adult sons, Carlo and Edoardo. All of Loren’s foreseeable public engagements have been postponed at this time.
