His breakthrough came in 1930 with The Big Trail, marking his transition to John Wayne. His fame soared with iconic films like Stagecoach and True Grit. Despite health struggles, including lung cancer, Wayne’s legacy endures, remembered for both his cinematic achievements and his human side. He passed away on June 11, 1979.
